As they prepare for the upcoming season, Fort Saskatchewan Ringette is looking for some new players.

Sunday they hosted Come Try Ringette at the Sportsplex.

24 kids showed up to get a feel for the sport and learn from experienced players.

"We have some very dedicated players that like to come help the girls that can't quite skate yet, or teach them how to hold a stick or shoot a ring," said organizer Robyn Krisher.

Evaluations for players begin this week and the season is just around the corner, but there's still lots of time for anyone interested to join.

"It's a very fun sport. It brings people together, so it's fun to have a friend in ringette but you also make new friends," said seventh year player Claire.

People have until September 15 to sign up. Newer players can join Active Start any time.
