Local curlers are looking to represent Alberta at the Scotties Tournament of Hearts.
This week, some of the province's top female curlers are in Grande Prairie for the Alberta Scotties, including two athletes from Fort Saskatchewan.
Team Crough, which includes Quinn Prodaniuk, is currently 1-2 in the tournament. They saw their first win on Tuesday (Jan.4) after defeating Selena Sturmay 9-6. Team Crough is one of the youngest teams at the tournament and recently took the silver medal at the 2021 World Juniors Qualifier in Saskatoon.
Their next game is against Kayla Skrlik's rink (0-3) out of Airdrie Wednesday at 2 p.m.
Fort Saskatchewan’s Kelsey Rocque and her team are undefeated so far in the tournament, their record includes a 7-5 win over Team Crough. Rocque’s next game is against Team Sturmay (1-2) on Wednesday at 2 p.m.
The winning team will represent Alberta at the Scotties Tournament of Hearts in Thunder Bay, Ontario, from Jan. 28 to Feb. 6.
