Strathcona County Emergency Services has more information about a fire over the weekend.

At around 6:20 p.m. on Saturday (Dec.4), a 911 call came in about a fire in the Starbucks at Alder Avenue and Wye Road in Sherwood Park. The patrons and staff were all safely evacuated with no injuries.

When crews arrived, they went inside the building to attack the fire and found smoke coming from one of the counters. Firefighters were able to bring the flames under control quickly.

As the Starbuck is in a strip mall, the business condo next to it had to be evacuated as well. However, no other businesses were damaged.

There was extensive smoke and fire damage done to the inside of the restaurant. It will be closed for an indeterminate amount of time while repairs are done and everything is cleaned up.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
