It’s time to break out the skates.
The City of Fort Saskatchewan is flooding the rinks and hopes to have them ready to go this weekend.
According to parks services manager Janelle Hart, the Mowat and RCMP rinks have already been flooded and are set to open on Saturday (Dec.11). They’re also working to prepare the other rinks to open around the same time, weather depending.
“We want to make sure the ice surface is in favour of skating,” said Hart.
Some of the snowbank rinks may not be open right away as they aren’t currently built; however, Hart added the city will get to them.
