Fatal collision on local highway

Another serious collision has taken place on an area highway—this time taking the life of a driver.

Strathcona County RCMP and emergency services were called to a fatal collision on Highway 14 near the intersection of Range Road 220, east of Cooking Lake.

The call came in at about 4:15 p.m. on Sunday (Jan.16) afternoon. The initial investigation shows that a semi-truck and a pick up truck collided head on. The driver of the pick up truck was pronounced dead at the scene.

Traffic in the area is being diverted and drivers are being asked to avoid the area as the investigation continues.
