This week on the Mix 107 morning show we had conductor of the Fort Saskatchewan Ambassador Band, Dr. Guy Palmer, as our special guest co-host.  On April 21, the Ambassador band will be traveling to Iceland to perform with local community bands and to learn through music, the life and culture of Iceland.

What a cool and unique experience it'll be for our residents traveling to a place where it's usually not the #1 destination people have on a travel list.

My wife has been to Iceland to perform with the U of A concert choir and the pictures are absolutely incredible.  Iceland is a very beautiful country with a very compelling history, which you can get a sense of through the type of music that'll be played.  Dr. Palmer shared this musical sample of Iceland:

If you play an instrument or if you used to play, the Fort Saskatchewan Community band and Ambassador band are also looking for more passionate music lovers.  No matter if you've played for 40 years or only 4 minutes, it's about having fun and playing music.
